WTO Cool Case Delayed

At the requests of Canada, Mexico and the United States, World Trade Organization members meeting as the Dispute Settlement Body have agreed to extend to March 23, 2012 the deadline for the adoption or appeal of the panel reports in the case about country of origin labeling requirements. The original deadline was January 18.

The U.S., Canada and Mexico joint requests were made to take into account the current workload of the Appellate Body. Canada and the U.S. viewed the delay as being exceptional in nature. Mexico is ready to move on the action but is cooperating with the request.
