Virginia Ag Expo Appeals to All Mid-Atlantic Farmers

The annual Virginia Ag Expo, hosted by the Virginia Grain Producers Association, is scheduled for Thursday, August 1st at the Land of Promise Farm in Virginia Beach. Bryan Taliaferro, Essex County farmer and president of the Virginia Grain Producers Association:

“I think it’s a great location. We are being hosted by a great family and people who have been in the farming business for multiple generations. They have gotten some great support from the Virginia Beach locality. We are excited for a great event.”

Taliaferro acknowledges that when one thinks of Virginia Beach, farming is not usually the first thing that comes to mind:

“Virginia Beach has been very aggressive and supportive of their farming community. From efforts to preserve farmland and to provide administrative support for ag promotions.”

Taliaferro outlines some of the events of the Expo:

“We have all kinds of crop and research projects and plots. There are so many things for people to see and learn about. There will be a number of exhibitors, the largest number we’ve had, in fact we have two tents. There will be lots of choices for food as well. It’s a great event to network and meet people and exchange ideas.”

While being held in Virginia, Taliaferro says the event is for all mid-Atlantic farmers:

“I think we will have a good contingent from NC and from Maryland and Delaware along with other states.”

So, we heard the Expo is on Thursday, August 1st, Taliaferro gives us a timeline:

“On August 1st, people will arrive between 7 and 7:30. Field tours begin at 8 am. I would recommend people to get there early to register and pick up their materials so they know the when and where and all of the details related to the day.”
