South Carolina’s Charleston-based Food Hub

Food Hub is a new buzz word in reference to locally grown produce.  SC Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers says that a Food Hub services smaller farmers and retailers, usually in a small geographic area to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables for ease and convenience to both.  Charleston's  GrowFood  is just shy of a year old and aquires produce and items from 30 local farms within a 120 mile radius,  and services 85 restaurants and 3 grocery stores.  Since opening GrowFood has sold more than $165,000 in produce from the 30 farms it services. is dedicated to serving the agricultural industry in the Carolinas and Virginia with the latest ag news, exclusive regional weather station readings, and key crop market information.
