South Carolina Waste Pesticide Recovery Program 2012/2013 Survey
The Laboratory and Consumer Services division of the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) is conducting a survey to determine disposal locations for South Carolina farmers, foresters, and nurserymen, to safely dispose of old, outdated, unusable, or unwanted pesticides.
This is the second phase of the South Carolina Waste Pesticide Recovery Program. The goal is to increase proper management and disposal of unwanted pesticides, along with increased education and outreach to pesticide users about the need to properly dispose of outdated and unwanted pesticides.
Program Guidelines:
? No fertilizers, household chemicals, compressed cylinders or empty containers will be accepted.
? Pesticides include insecticides, herbicides, nematicides, fungicides and other similar products used in commercial agricultural production.
? Each container must be marked with the words “Universal Waste-Pesticide” and the original package label.
You are invited to participate in a survey to help the SCDA determine disposal locations and quantity. You can print out the survey to fax or mail, or complete it online by visiting this link: https://agriculture.sc.gov/content.aspx?ContentID=5143.
Please submit the survey by November 1, 2012.
If you prefer to print and fill out the survey, fax it to 803-737-9703, attention: Alicia Hendrix or John Stokes, or mail the survey to the address below. Name and address are optional for the survey, but we encourage you to provide the county to better help determine disposal locations.
Our goal is to have the disposal locations set up by February 1, 2013. An announcement will be made once dates, locations, and drop-off times are arranged. Funding for this program is limited, so please remember disposal will be on a first come first serve basis. We encourage you to take advantage of this program. Remember it is at no cost to you and it is strictly confidential.
