South Carolina Adds Seafood to Certified SC Grown Marketing Program

South Carolina Certified SC Grown Branding Program is growing and now includes seafood.

South Carolina Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers:

“Seafood is now included as it is a signature SC cuisine. We wanted to work toward doing what we could to include them in the program.

With some new opportunities, maybe we can help to reverse the trend that 90% of the seafood that we eat comes from somewhere else in the world.

We want to help this signature, vital part of our industry.

We have had a lot of interest on this in a very short amount of time. We have 11 of our seafood folks involved and want to have as many as we can take advantage of our help. We want to do what we can to promote SC products.

Once a company joins, we will put labeling on their products. We will have a new logo that compliments our Certified SC product logo, but designates it as SC Seafood. That will tell consumers that the seafood came from the state or the waters of SC.” is dedicated to serving the agricultural industry in the Carolinas and Virginia with the latest ag news, exclusive regional weather station readings, and key crop market information.
