SC Entries Among Farm Bureau Photo Contest Winners
Fifteen photographs submitted by 12 Farm Bureau members and staff were chosen as the winners of the 2013 Farm Bureau Photo Contest.
Winners were selected in each of the three categories of the 2013 photo contest, held by the American Farm Bureau Federation together with the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. Winning photos accurately portray today’s farm and ranch families and their efforts to maintain a safe and healthy place to work and live.
The winners by category are:
My Scenic Farm or Ranch: Emily Waggoner, Pendleton, S.C., first place; Andie Traphagan, Ravendale, Calif., second place; Sarah Hardie, Fairmount, N.D., third place; Jami Guess, Louisville, Ky., honorable mention; Jim McLeod, Burfordville, Mo., honorable mention; Lynsey Evans, Terre Haute, Ind., honorable mention.
Sharing the Story: Carol Schmidt, Noblesville, Ind., first place; Carol Schmidt, Noblesville, Ind., second place; Tammy Widenbeck, Lancaster, Wis., third place.
Working on the Farm or Ranch: Laurie Link, Meadville, Mo., first place; Danielle Lindemann, Valley City, N.D., second place; Emily Chauvin, Franklin, La., third place; Emily Waggoner, Pendleton, S.C., honorable mention; Katherine Plessner, Verona, N.D., honorable mention.
Additionally this year, judges selected a Best in Show and two runners-up from the pool of winning images. Emily Waggoner of Pendleton, S.C., took Best in Show. Laurie Link of Meadville, Mo., took first runner-up and Carol Schmidt of Noblesville, Ind., took third runner-up. Judges also selected a photo submitted by Rebekah Rubingh of Ellsworth, Mich., for a special Animal Care award.
Winners will be highlighted at the AFBF Annual Convention, Jan. 12-15 in San Antonio and the top three placing photos in each category, as well as Best in Show and Animal Care award winners, will receive monetary prizes. First place winners will be awarded $100, second place, $75 and third place, $50. Best in Show will be awarded $400, first runner-up, $300 and second runner-up, $250. The Animal Care award winner will receive $200. Placing photos will also be used by AFBF and related companies, publications and promotions in the future.
