SC Department of Ag Helping Make Summer Fun

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture is responsible for the accuracy of weights and measures through their metrology lab.  These folks make sure that when you buy fuel, you’re getting a gallon for every gallon you’re charged for.

Every station across the state is tested once a year for accuracy, over 65,000 pumps, and as a rule the error rate, if there is one, is in the consumer’s favor.

The weights and measures department also check over 18,500 scales around the state.  When you purchase Certified SC Grown produce or meat packaged on0site in a grocery store, it has been weight by one of the department’s inspected scales.
