SC Commissioner Weathers: Ag+Art Tour
The South Carolina Ag&Art tour is starting this weekend. Commissioner Weathers is here to tell us more about this fun summer activity.
- Now that warm weather is upon us, it is time to make memories enjoying summer fun. What better way to do this then by loading up your car with family and friends and heading to the country to enjoy a day on the farm!
- Here in South Carolina, a great way to experience this is through our Ag and Art Tour.
- The South Carolina Ag + Art Tour is a free, self-guided tour of local farms and farmers markets featuring local artisans at every stop.
- This is the largest free farm and art tour in the nation since its inception in 2012.
- The tour takes place in 10 counties over every weekend in June:
- Saturdays 10:00 Am – 4:00 PM
- Sundays 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Participating counties:
- May 6: Lexington County
- May 13-14: Aiken County, Lancaster County, Sumter County
- May 20-21: Colleton County, Newberry County
- June 3-4: Kershaw County
- June 10-11: Richland County, York County
- June 17-18: Fairfield County
- June 24-25: Chester County
- A full list of participating farms and artisans can be found on the ag and art tour website. This guide will help you choose several sites to visit along the tour trail to guarantee a day full of fun.
- There will be activities for the entire family: take a hay ride and see farm animals, listen to local musicians, pick up some local produce and food, and watch our local artisans in action and purchase their works!
