President of NC Corn Growers Nominated to NCGA
Ronnie Burleson, Richfield, N.C. farmer is one of eight corn growers from around the country that have been nominated for election to the National Corn Growers Association's Corn Board for the 2014 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.
Burleson grows corn, soybeans, wheat and cotton with his son, brother and nephew. Together, they also raise beef cattle and operate a family-owned cotton gin. He is president of the Corn Growers Association of North Carolina and a director of the North Carolina Farm Bureau. Six of the seven remaining nominees are from the Midwest, and the seventh is from Texas. New board members will be elected by state delegates at the Corn Congress this July in Washington.
SC Horsemen’s Expo this Weekend
The SC Horsemen’s Expo on Feb. 9 promises fun, entertainment and information
Beginning at 10 a.m. at the S.C. Equine Park in Camden, The SC Horsemen’s Council Expo has four dynamic presentations scheduled in the main arena, with a host of other demonstrations besides. A Marsh Tacky filly, which is being auctioned in a special fund-raiser, will be on site. Saddle fitters, massage therapists, nutritionists, farriers and vets will be sharing their knowledge at the health pavilion. A variety of breeds will demonstrate their specialties under saddle and in harness.
Gates open at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 with special rates for SC Horse Council members, and memberships are available on site. For more information about the Expo go to
