Peanut Field Day coming to Edisto center

Clemson University will host a Peanut Field Day Sept. 5 at the Edisto Research and Education Center. The field day is free and open to the public and includes lunch.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The field tour starts at 9:30 a.m. and will make four stops:

Stop 1 — Peanuts

•Foliar and soil-borne disease research
•New and experimental Virginia and runner varieties
Stop 2 — Peanuts

•Comparison of new vs. standard runner and Virginia types
•Insecticide trials
Stop 3 — Peanuts

•Bake herbicide in peanuts
Stop 4 — Sorghum

•Grain sorghum production in the Savannah Valley
There also will be a corn field tour and presentation from 1 to 2 p.m. that includes corn weed and insect management and a disease review.
