NCDA’s ‘Dig Into Local’ Restaurant Week Underway

NCDA’s ‘Dig Into Local’ Restaurant Week Underway

This summer’s restaurant promotion through North Carolina Department of Agriculture is a bit different than in years past.  Tim Parrish, Food Service Marketing Specialist with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture explains:

“We have taken a spin off a restaurant week promotion and created a promotion called “Digging the Local Restaurant Week” as a fixed source week. These chefs are agreeing to put at least four items in their menu that have NC connections.”

Another thing that’s different from years past is this is not a competition says Parrish:

“Its not like our “Best Dish NC” where we judged different dishes.  So we wanted to let the public go out and try everything.”

Parrish explains the goals of ‘Dig Into Local’:

“We want to highlight the height of the NC growing season and encourage restaurants that might not have the local food movement on their radar to get involved.  So now they can do it during this week and its easy to find local products and we are helping to promote it.”

Parrish explains how to find participating restaurants:

“Go to GotToBeNC.com/digintolocal there is a listing of restaurants and some more information about the program.”
