NC Small Grain Field Days Underway this Week
These cool, wet, gray days have left farmers without much going on, so to while away these wet rainy days, NC State Small Grain Specialist Dr. Randy Weisz has a suggestion:
“We have a number of field days coming up, in Robeson County in Rowland. Its being put on by the Small Grain Growers Association and starts at 4pm. Its just off exit 1 on 95.”
And that gets underway this afternoon. But, if you can’t make that one, there’s plenty of others coming up this week and next says Weisz:
“On Thursday there is a field day in Beaufort County and that starts at 4pm. On Friday we have the Northeast Ag Expo. All of them should be big events.”
Then next week, Weisz says there’s more:
“On Tuesday the 14th we have a field day in Salisbury at the Piedmont Research Station. And on the 16th there is a Tri-County Field day in Monroe that begins at noon. Hope that growers can come to the field days and learn.”
Dr. Weisz and the Extension folks will be demonstrating pest management plots and variety trials at each location. For a detailed schedule with times, locations and maps visit our calendar.
