Fight Against EPA Pesticide Applicator Regulations Continues

Senators Pat Roberts and Mike Johanns have renewed their fight against the EPA’s expanded pesticide permit requirement for spraying pesticide in or near water. The House passed a ban with almost 300-votes some two-years ago – but a two-year delay was blocked by Senate environmental leaders on the floor.  American Farm Bureau’s Paul Schlagle:

“We had a big bill cleared by the Senate Agriculture Committee, but it never reached the Senate floor. We haven’t given up that fight, we want to see that bill signed into law.”

Record Number of Exhibitors at the Southern Farm Show

The 37th Annual Southern Farm Show is in the books, and president of Southern Shows, David Zimmerman,  the host of the Southern Farm Show says this year’s event was well received:

“We had a great show. The exhibitors did very well, so farmers are out buying equipment. That is what this show is all about.”

In fact, the Southern Farm Show had more exhibitors than ever this year:

“We filled up all the buildings, put up temporary structures and had more exhibitors outside this year.”

Next year’s Southern Farm Show is scheduled for February 5th through the 7th at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.
