Government Payments Lowest in Many Years

Did you know that U.S. Government payments paid directly to agricultural producers are expected to total 10.6-billion dollars in 2011. If realized, that number would be a 14.4 percent decrease from the estimate of 12.4-billion paid out in 2010. And the 2011 forecast will represent the lowest amount paid to producers since 1997. The largest decreases in payments are expected in disaster relief and Average Crop Election Program payments.
