Food Processors Learn More About Food Safety Modernization Act

Many attendees of Tuesday’s Annual Food Safety Forum were food processors, not growers. Ron Taylor with D’Vine foods explains why he wanted to learn more about the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act:

“We are always looking for opportunities to gain information from the educational side instead of the enforcement side. It allows us to make these contacts and hear the rules first hand. We can also give some feedback to the right people.

What I am looking for in the Food Safety Modernization Act, as a processor, I want to make sure that the farms that we buy from are safe farms. So we want to learn the requirements for those farms. I want to understand it well so as our business grows and we can make sure that those we buy from are meeting the requirements.

The consumers are the ones that we are all concerned about. They need to be responsible to wash and cook their food properly. We want to be sure that they are educated on the proper techniques to prepare the food, so it doesn’t become a bad product after they have purchased it.” is dedicated to serving the agricultural industry in the Carolinas and Virginia with the latest ag news, exclusive regional weather station readings, and key crop market information.
