Flue Cured Tobacco Final Planting Dates

USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) announces final planting dates changes for flue cured tobacco program counties across North Carolina and Virginia beginning with the 2013 crop year. The updated final planting dates are as follows:

May 15th
North Carolina – Beaufort, Brunswick, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Duplin, Greene, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pender, Pitt, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland, Wayne, Wilson

May 25th
North Carolina – Bertie, Chowan, Edgecombe, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Washington
Virginia – Amelia, Brunswick, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Nottoway, Powhatan, Prince George, Southampton, Suffolk, Sussex, Washington

May 31st
North Carolina – Anson, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Richmond, Vance, Wake, Warren
Virginia – Appomattox, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Prince Edward

June 5th

Tobacco planted within 15 days after the final planting date will still be insured. The per acre production guarantee will be reduced by one percent per day for days 1-10 and by two percent per day for days 11-15.

Tobacco producers are encouraged to visit RMA’s website or with their crop insurance agent to learn specific details for the 2013 crop year. Federal crop insurance policies are sold and delivered solely through private insurance companies and agents.
