Cost Share Funding Available for Water Management on NC Farms
North Carolina's Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler says that the state Soil and Water Conservation Commission recently approved some cost-share funding to help farmers meet their water needs. The Commissioner allocated $340,000 to the Agricultural Water Resources Assistance Program for the construction of new farm ponds, but farmers have to act fast, the deadline to apply is February 10.
Commissioner Troxler says that the commission also approved an additional $510,000 that was requested by 69 local districts to help farmers convert existing irrigation systems to more water-efficient systems, or to isntall or expand water supplies.
