Celebrate Agronomy Week May 23-27!

Agronomy Week returns May 23-27 for its sixth year. DEKALB brand manager Jamie Horton says the event recognizes the key role of agronomists and other crop professionals in helping farmers maximize performance in their fields.

“The DEKALB, Asgrow and Deltapine seed brands are excited to conduct Agronomy Week once again this season. And throughout the week, our brands’ technical agronomists will share insights and recommendations to help promote the best performance possible on about every acre. And in addition, farmers will have the opportunity to ask questions via social media and those questions will be answered by the agronomists. And all farmers, regardless of what seed brand they plant, are invited to participate to show appreciation for their agronomic advisers. And for additional information, farmers can visit AgronomyWeek.com.”

She says Agronomy Week 2022 includes an exciting sweepstakes that highlights the many things that professional baseball and farming have in common.

“Yeah, in both cases, a winning season requires a strategic game plan, strong teamwork and statistical analysis. And farmers, like professional ballplayers, work hard to continually improve and maximize their potential. The Agronomy Week sweepstakes will enable one winning farmer and up to three guests to receive a weekend getaway to the Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville, Iowa. The site was featured in the iconic 1989 Field of Dreams baseball movie and has a century-old family farm where DEKALB corn is planted. During the getaway, the winner and guests will have exclusive access to the original field where they can play catch or a game and stay in the Field of Dreams Farm Home.”

Horton also offers recommendations for how farmers and their agronomic professionals can team up to help score a winning season.

“First, don’t be reluctant to ask your agronomist questions. The more he or she understands your operation and your goals, the better advice they can provide. There’s no such thing as a dumb question or one that’s not important. And it’s important to maintain a year-round relationship. If you’re only seeking agronomic advice occasionally or to address issues that may arise, you’re probably not taking full advantage of expertise that can help promote your success.  And finally, think of your agronomic relationship as a continual improvement process. The more your agronomist understands your goals, the better the opportunity for continued yield improvement and profit growth potential.”

Once again, Agronomy Week 2022 runs May 23 through May 27.  For additional information about the event and how to enter the sweepstakes, visit www.AgronomyWeek.com
