Case IH Announces Partnership to Train More Technicians

Case IH announced a new collaboration with CNH Industrial, their dealer network, and some of North America’s top technical colleges. The goal is to overcome a shortage of repair technicians. Pete Steiner is the manager of Top Tech for Case IH. He says they want to get young people involved in diesel and agricultural technology.

“The goal is to give prospective technicians access to training on the newest Case IH equipment and products to prepare them to work as a technician down the road. The program came about because we know the scarcity of technicians is a growing concern nationwide. Between long-standing technicians retiring and fewer people entering the industry, we knew something had to be done, and that’s why Top Tech exists. We want to turn that tide and train a new generation of highly-skilled technicians. So, the Top Tech program offers a connection between our dealers, the colleges, and tech schools to identify the technicians of the future. We’ll give our students access to a variety of equipment. They’ll be able to work on the latest tractors, combines, planters, a whole line of equipment, including some construction equipment. They’ll get firsthand experience working on mechanical and hydraulic systems, engine diagnostics, repair, electronic circuitry, computer systems, computer technology, precision, all areas that are important in servicing our equipment.”

Students will have the opportunity to learn from instructors with years of experience in technical work. He says there has never been a better time to become a technician because they’re in critical demand in the agriculture industry.

“The Top Tech program will give you the ability to work on equipment, components, and machinery that you might not get at other schools. As a Top Tech student, you’ll have access to all the latest technology that Case IH has to offer. After graduating as Top Tech students, you’ll experience preferred status for employment consideration at all Case IH dealerships. And that’s great news as many of our dealerships are in rural communities that allow you to stay within that area. On top of that, Top Tech students are offered growth opportunities throughout their careers that could lead to better pay, new skills, and exciting job prospects. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average median pay for technicians is $50,300 and is continuing to rise, and the demand for technicians is only growing.”

Steiner talks about how interested students can become eligible to be a Top Tech.

“Your local Case IH dealer can recommend and guide you to a participating technical college. There, you’ll need to be accepted into a Diesel, Agriculture, or Construction Technology Program and, with that, you’ll be able to start working on the latest equipment in the agriculture industry. You can also find out additional information on participating schools and a dealership locator by going to our website CNHITopTech.com. There you’ll find out details about the schools, and dealers that support Top Tech, as well as information about what you will learn. We have frequently asked questions and more details, so check out CNHITopTech.com.”

He says don’t be afraid to ask questions about the many opportunities available for Case IH Top Techs.

“Again, if you have any questions regarding the Top Tech program, check out our website, which is CNHITopTech.com, or talk to your local dealer. They’ll be able to provide you with details about great career opportunities as a service technician.”
