August is National Farmers’ Market Month

It is high summer here in the Carolinas which means that everything worth eating is now at your favorite farmers market. Farmers market month gets underway later this week.

South Carolina Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers:

“It’s a time when things are really at their peak so we take some time to celebrate Farmers Market Month. It’s a good time to remind people that South Carolina has a great number of little famers markets across the state. They all have their own character and it’s a good time to socialize, meet the farmers and get some great food.

We have some local markets that are open on the weekends but state markets that are open 364 days a year. These are in Greenville, Florence and Columbia. The inventory of these and their open days are listed on our website.”
