Animal Research Minute – What could mice teach us about our minds?

Well, researchers at Baylor University are studying mice to better understand how the human brain works. They found mice’s ability to navigate using spatial cues was impaired in mice whose brains were minus a channel that delivers potassium — a finding that may have implications for people with damage to the hippocampus, a brain structure critical to memory and learning. Scientists think this same channel could affect our own ability to learn and remember.
