Animal Research Minute – Could scientists have found a way to restore eyesight?

Well, HealthDay News reports a new device developed with the help of lab rats could restore vision in people living with degenerative eye diseases, such as macular degeneration. The device is implanted behind the retina and acts in cooperation with special goggles and a pocket computer to send visual data to the brain. Scientists hope this system, which was developed with lab rats, could one day be available for the millions of people who have lost their eyesight because of disease.
