Animal Research Minute – Could a common diabetes drug stop Alzheimer

Well, the Belfast Telegraph reports new research shows a diabetes drug could be used to stop and reverse the brain damage that is a precursor to Alzheimer’s disease. When mice were given the drug that is used to produce insulin, scientists discovered it actually improved their memories. The drug worked to protect the mice’s nerve cells, critical for brain function, from damage. This promising work with mice could lead to a viable treatment for Alzheimer’s.
