Did you know blueberries could help you build stronger bones?
Well, according to the USDA, researchers have found that compounds in blueberries could have a powerful effect on the formation of strong, healthy bones. In studies with rats, scientists discovered polyphenols, the compounds that give blueberries their color, could help build strong bones. What we eat during our youth and early adulthood affects the development of bones and the risk of developing osteoporosis or other degenerative bone diseases later in life. This study with rats could help people at risk for developing these bone diseases.
