Christmas is tomorrow, and we are fortunate to have Commissioner Hugh Weathers here to talk with us about this season.
Commissioner:
It has been a trying year for many farmers. But this week, we spend some time with family and reflect on our blessings.
The harvest season is over. Despite the storms, drought and economic factors, we ended up with some good news out of 2024. Peanut production was strong, and the soybean harvest is wrapping up well. Even corn turned out better than I expected after the drought.
For Christmas tree farmers, I hear it was a strong season. Some of them saw damage from Helene, so I’m glad people supported them.
I invite all of you to share your farming histories and stories with younger generations around the holiday table.
I now have seven grandchildren to celebrate Christmas with each year.
I hope you all have a merry Christmas.
