SC Commissioner Weathers: SCATE Card Renewal Time

It’s just about time for SCATE renewals in South Carolina!  Here to tell us more about the SCATE rolling renewal is South Carolina Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers.

Commissioner:

As you may know, the South Carolina Agricultural Tax Exemption, or SCATE, card is a handy card for farmers to use for agricultural sales tax exemptions on items such as equipment, seed and feed.  It is hard to believe that it has been almost three years since the SCATE cards first rolled out, which means SCATE renewals have now begun!

Since this is a rolling renewal, you can renew online at scatecard.com up to 90 days prior to your current card’s expiration date.

If you do not wish to renew, you do not need to do anything and you can let your card expire.

Just like with SCATE applications, SCATE renewals are online only.  There are no paper forms.  SCATE renewals will be $24 and good news – SCATE renewals will be valid for five years from the expiration date on the card.

Current SCATE cardholders will receive a renewal reminder email with the next steps to the email address that they supplied on their SCATE account within 30-60 days of the SCATE card expiration date.  If a renewal is not completed during that timeframe, another reminder email will be sent as the expiration date approaches.

You may be asked to present your renewed SCATE card with the new expiration date.  SCATE card numbers do not change when renewed.

Once again, the website is scatecard.com and please see the “Renew your SCATE card” box and also the Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
