Active duty and retired military members can receive a 20% discount on tree seedling purchases from the N.C. Forest Service through the end of November.
- For the rest of the month, active-duty military members and veterans will receive a 20% discount on tree seedlings from the N.C. Forest Service’s Nursery and Tree Improvement program.
- The discount applies to the first $500 in new orders, up to a $100 discount.
- We appreciate the service of our military men, women and veterans and this is a small way we try to honor them in November when we celebrate Veteran’s Day.
- I know many woodland owners are also military service members or veterans, so I hope they will take advantage of this special discount.
- To qualify for it, proof of service is required. That can be a valid military ID, Department of Defense Form 214/215 or National Guard Bureau Form 22/22A.
- Listeners may recall that the tree program helps ensure residents have access to the best native trees and genetics available to plant on their land. The goal is to keep North Carolina’s forests healthy and growing.
- Current inventory includes southern yellow pines, upland and wetland hardwoods, hemlocks and Christmas tree species.
- Trees can be ordered by calling 1-888-NCTREES or at the website www.buynctrees.com.
