We support our South Carolina producers by representing the state at produce trade shows throughout the year, and New York this week is always an interesting one.

South Carolina’s season starts early, so we are a key supplier of produce like strawberries, blueberries and leafy greens to Northeastern retailers. As summer crops emerge, we sell melons, peaches and much more.

Market Development is important to our department. We create relationships and help producers connect with buyers.

Our staff peach and watermelon specialist is also spending a day doing bus tours of New Jersey retailers to learn a little bit more about their needs. As you know, NJ is also a major peach producer.

And we will be touring an urban farm in Brooklyn, Red Hook Farms.
