It’s fall, and that means it’s time for the annual fall plant and flower festivals hosted by the SC Department of Agriculture. Commissioner Hugh Weathers is here to tell us more.
- Now that the weather is cooling down, it is a great time to celebrate the harvest season and find the perfect plants for your home garden.
- Our fall festivals started this past week and will continue for the next few weeks:
- Greenville: Sept. 22
- Pee Dee: Sept 29-Oct 1
- Midlands: Oct 6-8
- There will be a wide variety of vendors selling autumn-appropriate flowers like mums, marigolds and pansies
- This is also a great time to shop for pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, hay, and other fall decorative favorites.
- And of course there’s plenty of Certified SC produce.
- At the Pee Dee festival, you can also visit Aloha Kitchen, an Hawaiian restaurant on site.
- The wide selection of plants will be tempting, so you can bring along a wagon or rent one at the festival to cart along all the flowers and items you pick and choose.
- Admission and parking at the State Farmers Market will be free for this event.
- The festival will be held rain or shine.
