May is just around the corner and it will soon be time for the Got to Be NC Festival May 16-18. Mark your calendar and join us for the fun.
- We have a lot going on in the department including planning and getting ready for the Got to Be NC Festival in Raleigh.
- This year the festival is May 16-18 and I am telling you now so you can go ahead and mark your calendars to attend.
- Some people describe the festival as a mini State Fair because it offers rides, animals, fair foods and entertainment.
- But the festival also has:
- a daily tractor parade;
- a large tractor display featuring machines in all different colors;
- the Got to Be NC Pavilion featuring over 75 North Carolina food and beverage vendors;
- plenty of free entertainment on the grounds including the King BMX Stunt Show, Kenya Safari Acrobats, a roving truck driving dog, a puppet show and working dog demonstrations.
- the annual Masonic Pig Jig competition and fundraiser, where participants can pay one price and enjoy a “BBQ buffet” of each team’s best ‘cue.
- So, while the festival is similar, it is also very different.
- I look forward to the festival every year and the opportunity it offers to highlight our state’s No. 1 industry – agriculture.
- Admission and parking are free. Pay as you go for food and rides.
- If you have never been to the festival, I would encourage you to make this the year to plan to attend.
- Festival hours are: Friday from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- I hope to see you there.
