“The policies that impact our daily lives are often shaped at the local level. Across the Farm Bureau, we have seen some great victories and some painful defeats through the rising popularity of ballot initiatives. That is why engagement, starting at the county level, is critical. We need to share the story of the work farmers do to keep nutritious food on our tables and in our pantries.
“The best person to share the story of American agriculture is you, the American farmer—and it makes all the difference. And even if there’s not a ballot initiative on the horizon in your county or state, sharing your story always helps to build public trust and good will before an initiative appears on your ballot.
