Potatoes USA continues to work on marketing programs for potatoes to educate consumers about the benefits and versatility they provide.
Chief Marketing Officer Kim Brashears says 2024 was a good year for potatoes, and she’s looking forward to what this year will bring.
“2025 looks good. We have a lot of great programs that we have in the market and will continue to have in-market to reach these audiences. The food service has lagged since the COVID period or since the pandemic period, but we’ve some indications that it’s coming back. Consumers are eating out more.”
As for our export markets, Brashears says they are strong.
“Exporting to Mexico has been a great opportunity for the U.S. over the last couple of years for fresh potato exports, and we’ve just seen tremendous growth there as too, so I am excited for 2025. It’s going to be another great year for potatoes. And, you know, we’re just continuing to ensure that we get the good word out there and people understand the value potatoes provide for their diet.”
Promoting potatoes is something she loves to do.
“It’s a very rewarding place to be, and our team at Potatoes USA is passionate about education.”
Brashears says consumers are resonating with the message that potatoes are vegetables and a very healthy part of our diet.
