2012 Means Critical Farm Bill Negotiations

Since the Super Committee failed in 2011 to cut the required $23 million from the ag budget, the 2012 farm bill will be written as it has been done for years.  NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler says that the negotiations are watched closely by everyone associated with production agriculture.

Troxler explains that the Farm Bill is the most important piece of legislation to come out of Washington, and with the failure of the Super Committee several things could happen.  One would be to start from scratch, another would be to take what the Super Committee started and expand on that, and a third would be to extend the 2008 Farm Bill, since 2012 is an election year.
