Winning Has Roots Scholarship Applications are Open

DEKALB® brand corn, the National FFA Organization and NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer present students the opportunity to qualify for the Winning Has Roots scholarship. Kathleen McKittrick, DEKALB brand manager..

“It was a great weekend at the Kansas Speedway on Sunday where we unveiled the new No. 14 DEKALB FFA Ford Mustang that was driven by Clint Bowyer. The car design showcased our FFA partnership and celebrated the Winning Has Roots scholarship. DEKALB is committed to shaping the future of agriculture, whether it’s from developing leading products to supporting future ag professionals, DEKALB is invested in leaving a longstanding legacy.”

McKittrick says the scholarship amount was determined by the number of laps Clint completed during the October 18th NASCAR Cup race.

“We’re excited to announce that driver Clint Bowyer completed 267 laps to fund a $10,138 FFA scholarship. The way that we arrived at that very specific amount was that it started with a base amount of $6,400, and every time Clint completed a lap in the No. 14 DEKALB FFA Ford Mustang, that   scholarship increased by $14. So, since all 267 laps were completed by Clint, the scholarship increased to $10,138. And that Winning Has Roots scholarship is a very exciting opportunity for agriculture and will help one qualified student fund their continued education.”

The Winning Has Roots scholarship was created by DEKALB to help students achieve their goals and advance agriculture, says McKittrick.

“So, Whether in the classroom or on the farm or even on the racetrack, the DEKALB brand really believes winning has roots, and is all about a mindset and skill set developed and shaped at a young age. That idea is built every day through persistence and the drive to perform in winners that we see day in and day out. And the Winning Has Roots scholarship program is in addition to Bayer’s $6 million multi-year commitment of the National FFA Organization and National 4-H Council.”

Eligible students can apply beginning October 26th. For more information about the Winning Has Roots scholarship, visit and follow the conversation with #WinningHasRoots and #GoClintGo.
