Tobacco Associates, Inc. will be holding an Export Promotion Check-Off Referendum on January 23rd. Tobacco Associates have been around since 1947 as the only grower-financed export promotion organization, whose activities are directed at protecting, promoting and expanding foreign markets for US flue-cured leaf.
Eligible voters are anyone over the age of 18 who is engaged in the production of flue-cured tobacco during the 2012 growing season. The voting will be conducted by North and South Carolina Extension Service on Wednesday, January 23rd at each flue-cured producing County Extension office. Two-thirds of the eligible voters participating in the referendum must vote ‘for’ in order for the programs to continue.
