This is Mary Walden with economist MW welcoming you to the economic perspective. Today’s program looks at the latest reading on North Carolina’s economy. Mike, I understand the federal government just released the top measure for economic growth in the states. What is this measure, and how did North Carolina do?
Mike: Summary Answer
- GDP for third quarter 2019, annualized
- Positive for NC at 2%
- 2.1% for nation – NC has been falling short due to restructuring, trade war, and slowdown in manufacturing
- In SE, NC beat Virginia, Mississippi, and Alabama, but lower for other states
- Fastest growth was in Texas, slowest was in Delaware (0%)
