Mary: This is Mary Walden with economist MW, welcoming you to the economic
perspective. Today’s program gives a farewell. Mike, in a few weeks you will retire
from North Carolina State University after serving on the faculty for 43 years. For
almost all of those 43 years you have done a daily radio program. I’ve been happy to
have been part of the program for the last decade. What are your thoughts for your final
program?
Mike: Summary Answer
a. First, thank all the production staff behind the scenes, as well as you as
co-host and all of your predecessors
b. Second, I could not imagine a better career than the one I’ve had at NCSU –
especially the extension component which allowed me to meet thousands of
people all across the state
c. I still plan to be active – speaking, researching, writing – will continue my
bi-weekly newspaper column, You Decide
d. NC is an incredible state, NCSU is an outstanding university, and the
extension program is a unique and valued American institution
e. I’m MW
Mary: And I’m Mary Walden for the Economic Perspective, an NC State Extension
program from the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics
