South Carolina's Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers says that the most recent figures from USDA's Economic Research Service (2010) show that in that year the Palmetto State ag exports ttotaled $755.8 million, and in 2006, the number was $350.8 million, which is more than double in four years.  Last month, Port of Charleston announced container buiness at the port was up in the fiscal year that ended June 30, and during that time, the port handled 1.43 million TEU's.

Agricultural exports remain the only segment of the export economy in positive terratory.  In other words; we ship more than we recieve.
