Small Farms Week

North Carolina A&T State University along with North Carolina Department of Ag have celebrated Small Farms Week for 31 years.  This is the week to highlight the state’s small farms, and the farmers whol make it happen.

The Tar Heel State is host to 50,000 farms and most of them are classified as small farms by USDA.  These farms mean a lot to North Carolina agriculture, the sale of their crops and animals as well as their contribution to the economic strength of their communities through the purchase of feed, supplies, equipment and other goods and services.

A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and harvest trailers to modules. After graduating from Texas Tech University, she got her start in radio with KGNC News Talk 710 in Amarillo, Texas.
