Several NC Counties Express Interest in Sanderson Farms

Several counties in North Carolina have offered sites to Sanderson Farms in an effort to recruit the company to build its next chicken processing plant there, the Fayetteville Observer reported.

Sampson, Hoke, Robeson and Harnett counties in North Carolina along with a location in Virginia, have shown interest in having the plant according to the report, citing documents released in conjunction with a failed bid for the project in Cumberland County.

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners in North Carolina on Monday voted down the project, which already faced opposition from local residents Fayetteville.  That was Sanderson’s second attempt at an additional plant in the Tar Heel State, the first was on the Nash/Wilson County line, it too was strongly opposed by residents.
