South Carolina's Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers will be directly involved in the tenth Commissioner's School on Agriculture at Clemson University this week. This one-week program for rising high school juniors and seniors gives an overview of the ag industry in the hopes that the 38 attendees will not only consider agriculture as a career, but Clemson as their university.
Attendees are from all over the east, but primarily from the southeast as no other state offers such a program. Weathers explains that the budge for the Commissioner's School comes from private funding, as well as tuition, which has helped the program survive budget cuts through the years.
