Summer is here and with the holidays, a lot of food is going to be outside. Lets talk about being ever vigilant with your foods.
“It all starts with the farmer and we are really trying to ramp up our efforts here in the department with food safety and the practices that we recommend and ask the farmers to follow. We need to be careful in our certification that these things are going on thought our GAP practices. When it comes to the production and processing of food with the Food Safety Modernization Act, it puts a great importance on the production, the water use, chemical use and sanitation. So when it arrives on the table the farmers have done the best job they can.
We will continue to do the things that make a good product possible to get to the consumers. We have seen the stories about recalls and we don’t want SC in that. We want to remind our farmers about record keeping and water use and the separations they need to do to ensure that the product they deliver is the best product that they can.”
