Its time again for the Southeast Fruit & Vegetable Expo, it’s the 28th year for the event and some great things are planned for this year.
South Carolina Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers:
“There are a lot of interesting topics to be dealt with like the harvesting and produce sections of the Food Safety Modernization Act as they become reality. Other timely topics as well. It’s a joint effort between the Carolina’s so you get to hear a broader perspective.
There is also a seminar on direct marketing. The GAP rules will be talked about as well. On the tradeshow sides it’s great to walk through and see what’s new and to network.
Crop protection materials like herbicides and pesticides will be a hot topic. You have to stay on top of it because of the costs involved, to be sustainable and the rules and regulations involved. You can never learn to much about this subject.
It’s a great opportunity to learn what is out there.
You can visit www.agriculture.sc.gov to register under Hot Topics. It’s not too late to register and find a hotel!”
