Peterson: Ag Bill to Move in Early 2018

House Agriculture Committee leadership says the 2018 farm bill should be ready to move in the first quarter of next year. House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson says markup on the bill will begin at the end of January or early February. Peterson expects the bill to reach the House floor in February or March.

NC Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler recently named Andrea Ashby of Raleigh as the new director of the Public Affairs Division.

Ashby has worked 22 years with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Public Affairs Division. She began her career in 1996 as a public information officer, before being promoted to the assistant director of Public Affairs, a position she has held for 21 years. Prior to joining the department, she was an award-winning journalist with the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald.

Ashby replaces Brian Long, who accepted a position with the N.C. Community College System.
