On The Road Again

Willie Nelson had nothing on South Carolina’s Ag Commissioner, Hugh Weathers in the month of June when it came to traveling…Weathers was ‘on the road again’.

At the beginning of June, several members of the commissioner’s staff traveled to Nashville for a meeting of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture, then there was the trip to Washington D.C that we spoke of a couple of weeks ago.

The commissioner has also been to Savannah for a North American Free Trade Agreement discussion with Secretary of Agriculture Perdue, and the Canadian and Mexican ministers of agriculture.

Also, Weather spent some time in Charleston touring the coastal Research and Education Center as well as with attendees of the National Peanut Supervisory Conference in Myrtle Beach.

All that travel in the month of June didn’t mean that Weathers and his wife, Blanche missed out on the opportunity to welcome their new granddaughter into the world towards the end of the month.

A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and harvest trailers to modules. After graduating from Texas Tech University, she got her start in radio with KGNC News Talk 710 in Amarillo, Texas.
