NCDA Receives $9.2 Million REPI Grant

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture recently received a $9.2 million REPI, or Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program grant to support conservation efforts by the Eastern North Carolina Sentinel Landscape Partnership.

North Carolina’s Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler explains that the Sentinel Landscape Partnership us a group made up of NCDA, the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and other federal and state agencies, local governments and nonprofit organizations.

The money will be used to protect farms and forests that are vital to relieving encroachment on military training areas and airspace.


A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and harvest trailers to modules. After graduating from Texas Tech University, she got her start in radio with KGNC News Talk 710 in Amarillo, Texas.
