NCDA Lifts Poultry Restrictions

Last Thursday, North Carolina Department of Agriculture lifted restrictions on sales and shows of live poultry and well as rescinded the mandatory registration of commercial and backyard flocks across the state.  Restrictions were put in place in August of 2015 in anticipation of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza appearing in the state in the fall.

To date, no cases of High Path AI have been detected anywhere in the US.  While the restrictions have been lifted, they can be reinstated at a moment’s notice should High Path AI be detected in the US or on the east coast.
