Applications are being accepted for the 2014-15 American Soybean Association DuPont Young Leader program. The program is a challenging and educational two-part training program, with Phase I of the program at the DuPont Pioneer headquarters in Johnston, Iowa in November, and the second phase will be late February at the Commodity Classic in Phoenix. An individual or couple will be selected from each of the 26 ASA state affiliates. For more information. Application deadline is Friday, August 1st.
NC State Professor Appointed to New Ag Research Board
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the creation of the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research (FFAR) and the appointment of a 15-member board of directors. Among the 15 voting members is Dr. Nancy Creamer – Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Agriculture and Community Based Food Systems, North Carolina State University. The new foundation will leverage public and private resources to increase the scientific and technological research, innovation, and partnerships critical to boosting America’s agricultural economy.
NCGA National Corn Yield Contest Deadline Nears
There’s still time to submit an entry form for National Corn Growers Association’s National Corn Yield contest…due August 1st. All harvest forms are due by November 21st, ant winners will be announced on December 19th. Winners receive national recognition as well as cash trips or other awards from participating sponsors. There have been several winners from the southeast, notably, David Hula from Virginia, and Randy Dowdy from Georgia. click here for more info
