The annual Junior Livestock Sale of Champions took place over the weekend at the NC State Fair, bringing in a record $182,500.  NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler says the livestock shows at that fair highlight some of the best animals and brightest kids in the state.

The livestock shows are an important part of the State Fair , about 6,100 animals have been entered by 1,500 exhibitors, with 970 of those being youth.

The NC State Fair runs through Sunday in Raleigh.
