It's been more than ten years since North Carolina's General Assembly passed a bill with direct benefits to the state's agriculture industry. Last week, NC governor Pat McCrory signed into law the 2013 Farm Act.
NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler explains that the act encompases 17 different aspects of farming, not all of them related. Since it had been so long since agricultural issued had been addressed by the General Assembly, they took several issues and rolled them into one bill.
Troxler outlines a few of the highlights in today's report.
